Biography
Dr Danail Stoyanov is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Medical Image Computing and the Department of Computer Science, University College London where he leads the Surgical Robot Vision Research Group and he is Program Director for the MSc/MRes in Robotics and Computation. He is an expert in vision and image processing of minimally invasive and robotic assisted surgery video for surgical navigation and guidance. His current research interests are in developing robotic assisted imaging techniques and biophotonics, as well as, computing image-based metrics for surgical workflow and skill evaluation. He was Program Chair for the International Conference on Information Processing in Computer Assisted Interventions (IPCAI) in 2014 and he is a deputy editor for the International Journal of Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery (IJCARS) and an associate editor for the IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters (RA-L).
